Admission Requirements
Applicants wishing to enroll for the PhD in Development Studies program must hold a Master’s degree in Community Development, Development Studies, Social Work, Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Management or other related fields in Social Sciences or Arts and Humanities. All applicants must meet the entry requirement of GPA of 3.0 (B) or its equivalent. A Grade Point Average of 3.00 on the grading scale of 4.00 system grade point average in their masters programmes.

The program has five areas of specializations, namely:

  • Development Studies
  • Leadership and Governance
  • Disaster Management and Sustainable Development
  • Gender and Development
  • Peace Building and Conflict Management

Degree Completion Requirements

To graduate, a student must successfully complete the 68 credit hours as specified below.

Research and Dissertation 21 credits
TOTAL 68 credits
Mode of Study

The duration of the program will be three years for full time students, while a part-time student will take upto seven years.
